This is a beautiful B&B - the innkeepers did a great job restoring the house and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Prices are reasonable and the breakfasts were good. We'll be coming back!

Overall, this was less like staying at a B&B, and more like crashing at the house of a rich relative who really never liked you anyway (except that you have to pay a good amount for it). The worst B&B experience I've ever had, front to back. 1. Reservations. It was hard to get a hold of them. I sent an email to no response. Later, I called, and Jane sounded so informal and annoyed that I thought that I had somehow called her personal number by accident. She didn't have time to make a reservation, so she said she'd call me back. This wasn't great, because I was making the reservation as a surprise for my girlfriend's birthday while my she was out, and Jane called back when my girlfriend was there-- but oh well. I never got any confirmation of the reservation, the rate, or the policies, and Jane later told me she never sends any confirmations. 2. Arrival. When we got there, Jane was relaxing on a swing setup in the yard. She got up and walked over so slowly and casually that I wasn't sure whether she were another guest until she said she would show us in. I'm not sure she said hello, and she never introduced herself (I had to look up her name to write this review). She handed me a sheet of paper with the rules for our dog without bothering to explain them or giving me time to read them. When we got to the room, our dog jumped on the bed, and Jane immediately admonished him, again without saying anything to us. She told us that the button in the bathroom would buzz them, but that they wouldn't respond. One odd thing about this place is that you don't get a key to your room-- in fact, Jane asks guests to leave their doors cracked when they're out and about, so that she can tell who is in the house. I'm not sure why she would want to know, and you're left to just trust that no one will mess with your stuff. No one did, but it seems weird to me that she'd ask you to trust her and other guests you've never met. 3. House. The house is honest-to-god beautiful, no doubt about it. Our room was very nice (I'd tell you which one we had but their website's down and like I said, I have no written confirmation from them about anything except the final charge), and the living/dining rooms and the basement are awesome. We didn't really see too much of these other rooms, though, because we kind of felt like we were intruding on Jane's personal space-- it was never clear to us that we were welcome in any rooms besides our own. 4. Dogs. Jane has two dogs that she doesn't put on leashes. As a result, they ran over and surrounded our dog every time we came and went in the house. Jane would yell at her dogs about it, but it didn't help. We ended up carrying our dog in and out of the house. Also, there was a dog fee that I am not sure I knew about beforehand, and couldn't double-check because their website was down when we were there. As I mentioned above, they don't let dogs on the furniture, which also would have been nice to know beforehand. 5. Checkout. We were given no information about the check-out time, either when we got there or at breakfast. So my girlfriend and I were having a nice, romantic morning, when Jane pounded on our door police-style and said, "I really have to change the sheets very soon!" Obviously, she ruined the moment and basically kicked us out. It turns out that checkout time is 10, which seems early to me (especially since check-in has to be after 4), and we were half an hour over. Jane was not interested in discussing the surprise (to me) dog fee, and sent me an email receipt without a cost breakdown.
